NOTICE OF STUDY COMPLETION

Schedule 'C' Class Environmental Assessment
Port Weller WWTP High Rate Treatment
Facility City of St. Catharines

Niagara Region has completed a Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to provide high rate treatment for high flows at the Port Weller WWTP. The Niagara Northeast Area Wastewater Servicing Study, completed in 2009, identified the need to provide high rate treatment for high flows at the Port Weller WWTP and met the requirements of Phases 1 and 2 of the Class Environmental Assessment Process. The Port Weller WWTP High Rate Treatment Facility Schedule 'C' Class EA evaluated alternative design concepts for providing high rate treatment. This study has identified a preferred design concept involving modifications to the existing bypass disinfection facility at the Port Weller WWTP to provide high rate treatment for high flows.

Subject to comments received as a result of this Notice, and the receipt of necessary approvals, the Region of Niagara intends to proceed with the implementation of this project. Future notice will be provided in advance of the construction of these works.
