Downtown St. Catharines Garbage & Recycling Collection

This information is for businesses and apartment units within a commercial building in the St. Catharines downtown core collection area. It does not apply to residential collection.

Business and Apartments

  • Curbside garbage collection is provided four-days per week:

    • Tuesday and Thursday starting at 6:30 p.m.
    • Saturday and Sunday starting at 7 a.m.

    Large household items will NOT be collected as part of this service.

  • Curbside garbage collection to commercial buildings higher than three storeys is not offered.

  • Curbside recycling collection for Grey and Blue Box on Thursday evenings. Items must be at the curb by 6:30 p.m.. (but not before 4:30 p.m.)

  • 15 dedicated cardboard recycling bins located in St. Catharines are available for your use.

Collection Notes

  • Recyclables can be put in transparent plastic bags or cardboard boxes.
  • Cans and bottles must be kept separate from paper and cardboard.
  • Cardboard boxes must be flattened and tied in bundles or placed in another cardboard box.
  • Cardboard bundles must not exceed 90 cm (3') x 90 cm (3') x 90 cm (3') in size.

If the above service levels do not accommodate your needs, you may want to consider alternative disposal options, such as contracting with a private hauler.
