Caring for someone living with dementia can be very challenging and very rewarding. The T. Roy Adams Regional Centre for Dementia Care offers specialized dementia care that can support you as a caregiver.
The Adams Centre is comprised of two distinct components:
We provide care for short periods with the goal of placing the individual with dementia, with the appropriate supports, in the most suitable care setting. If you are looking for care for a resident of Niagara, you may access these specialized dementia care services.
All staff dedicated to the Centre have specialized dementia care training and experience. Staffing levels are higher than an average long-term care home to reflect the specialized behavioural care requirements.
All of our homes feel like homes should - warm, welcoming, safe, and comfortable - and The T. Roy Adams Regional Centre for Dementia care is no exception.
We serve three appetizing meals a day with snacks offered in between meals. The registered dietitian develops menus based on the Canada Food Guide. Special and therapeutic diets and appropriate supplements are provided, if required.
Family and friends are encouraged to continue playing an active role in the individual's life. Visitors are always welcome.
