Tobacco

Smoke-Free Ontario drawing 'Our province would have the cleanest air in Canada'

Smoking and other forms of tobacco use remain the largest cause of preventable death and disease in Ontario. It kills 13,000 Ontarians each year.

According to the Health Story of Niagara, 30 per cent of adults use tobacco industry products - our goal at Public Health is to lower this number and work towards a Smoke-Free Ontario.

In working towards this goal, Niagara Region Public Health strives to prevent youth and young adults from starting to smoke, to protect residents from the dangers of second-hand smoke, and to help people quit smoking and tobacco use.

The Tobacco Hotline helps people quit smoking, provides information to businesses and takes complaints.
