Be Active, Your Way, Everyday
Keep Your Kids Active this Summer
Outdoor play has major competition from video games, the Internet and television. So how do you keep your children active over the summer months? Here are five tips:
- Set limits on the time your kids spend in front of the television or computer
- Provide fun alternatives to indoor activities such as setting up the sprinkler in the backyard, tossing a Frisbee around or playing some soccer
- Make a calendar of events that your children can attend. Schedule outings such as trips to the local pool, bike rides, nature hikes, or a scavenger hunt
- Invite neighborhood children and families to your home for a game of volleyball, tag or hide and seek
- Get outside and be active with your children. The best encouragement you can give your kids to be active is by setting a good example
