No thanksYour baby's first years are the most important in their development. Their positive emotional, physical and intellectual experiences all contribute to their health, growth and development.
We are here to help parents and caregivers give their child the very best start in life, from before they are born, through birth, and up to age six.
Our public health nurses offer home visits to mothers shortly after they leave the hospital. They offer support and advice to strengthen parenting, enhance child development and make connections with community agencies.
Home Visit after Leaving Hospital
Mothers will receive a phone call from a public health nurse within 48 hours of leaving the hospital. All families are also offered a home visit by a nurse to receive information and support regarding their own health and the health and care of their newborn.
In-home Visits
Parents can request in-home visits from public health nurses, social workers, infant development therapists, speech pathologists and Family Home Visitors. Family Home Visitors are other parents who have received special training and are supported by professionals. They support parents, help them learn about child development and parenting and help them to solve everyday challenges.
To request visits, or for questions about your health or your newborn's health and development, call the Parent Talk Line at 905-688-8248 or 1-888-505-6074, ext. 7555.
