What is F.U.E.L.?

F.U.E.L is an after school physical activity program for female youth. It combines fun activities with an opportunity to meet new people and learn more about how to live a healthy lifestyle.

Learning more about living a healthy lifestyle:

The school nurse is available to provide interactive "Girl Talk" sessions on many different topics such as:

  • self-esteem/body image
  • sexual health
  • dating and relationships
  • emotional well-being
  • healthy eating
  • physical activity

This is a great time to talk about things that affect teenage girls in a comfortable and safe environment.

How long will the program run?

The program will run for a select period of time during the school year depending on what the Advisory Committee decides. Each session will be about one hour in length and will feature a fun activity to enjoy.


Youth Advisor FAQs

What kind of commitment do I have to make?

Youth Advisors must attend all physical activity sessions and regular Advisory Committee meetings throughout the year. Youth Advisors must also commit to being an advocate for healthy, active living and to support the F.U.E.L. program and its initiatives.

What benefits will I gain by being a Youth Advisor?

Having trouble meeting people or not feeling like you belong to your school? Well, being part of F.U.E.L. will give you the opportunity to get more involved in your school. You may even be able to receive community service hours for your work with F.U.E.L.

What is the Advisory Committee?

The Advisory Committee is made up of a group of female youth, teacher advisor(s) and the school nurse.

Participant FAQs

Do I have to come out every week?

No. You can participate as often as you are able or as often as you would like. However, in order to get the most out of the program, you should try to come out regularly.

Where are the sessions held?

The program will be offered at your school.



Teacher Advisor FAQs

What is the purpose of a Teacher Advisor?

Teacher Advisors will work with the F.U.E.L. youth advisors to run regular physical activity sessions for the female students throughout the year.
