Family Resource Centres in Niagara

Family Resource Centres provide services and interactive activities that are carefully planned by trained staff members. Parents, educators and caregivers can bring their children to join in on the fun and learn valuable social skills that will last them a lifetime. In addition to assisting children in their learning and growth, Resource Centres also help parents and caregivers develop friendships with other individuals who share similar experiences.

There are five Resource Centres that are operated by four community agencies delivering a range of supports to families and caregivers such as;

  • drop-in programs for parents and children,
  • information about parenting and child development,
  • resource and toy lending,
  • and links to other resources in the community.
Resource Centres, while aligned with Ontario Early Years Centres, also provide services to unique populations on a region-wide basis. Within Niagara four such centres provide services to the francophone, aboriginal, supportive housing and early childhood professionals.
