Public consultation is a key component of this study. The Project Team will be working with a Technical Advisory Committee made up of representatives from a variety of stakeholders including the Region's Public Works and Planning Departments, affected local municipalities, agricultural organizations, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Environment, Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority and the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority.
In addition, a Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held within a few months to present the project to the general public for review and comment. The PIC will follow an informal, "drop-in" format by which large display boards will be used to present project information including background information on the study, the identification and evaluation of various alternatives and the recommended irrigation scheme. Representatives from the Region and Stantec will be present at the PIC to answer questions and discuss comments on the study. Notice of this PIC will be advertised in advance in the St. Catharines Standard, the Niagara Advance, the Grimsby/Lincoln News, the Voice of Pelham, and the Niagara Farmers Monthly and by direct mailing to members of the contact list.
