Final Vision
The completed road, parkway and trail project will ultimately include "Gateways" or welcoming points located at Charles A. Ansell Park (St. Catharines), Lock 3 (Museum), Allanburg and Lock 8 (Port Colborne). These Gateways will include parking for cars, buses and bicycles; staging facilities; directional/orientation information; interpretive displays; washrooms; telephones; picnic facilities and shelters; and, commercial development opportunities.
Nineteen Staging Areas will be provided at consistent intervals along the Parkway and they will also incorporate some of the amenities provided at the gateways. Located at strategic points among the Gateways and Staging Areas, there will be 14 Orientation Nodes providing pull-off and parking space, route maps, directional signage and interpretation of nearby points of interest.
