Administration
Support Public Health's overall operations. These include: management of physical resources and assets; financial monitoring and reporting; support to the operating programs; administrative support; occupational health and safety; and management and administration of computers and technology.
Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention
Promotes healthy eating, tobacco-free living, active living, sun safety, and early detection of cancer prevention to reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke, obesity, and cancer. Helps people learn how to be safe in their everyday lives; in the home and on the road.
Clinical Services
Provides immunization clinics and information, infection prevention and control activities, sexual health services and clinics, and mental health services.
Community Development and Surveillance
Directs and/or supports the development, implementation and evaluation of internal and external information sharing strategies and ensures all standards are consistent with those of the department and corporation. The division includes the areas of community development, continuous quality improvement and education, health assessment, community surveillance, health promotion, communications, and social marketing work across the department
Emergency Services
Consists of our Niagara Emergency Medical Services team of paramedics and emergency medical dispatchers.
Environmental Health
Investigates public health concerns about environmental health hazards and conducts inspections of food establishments, nursing homes, migrant farm worker housing, personal services establishments, and beaches.
Family Health
Consists of our reproductive health, healthy babies/healthy children, dental health, infant and child development services, and school health programs providing resources and services to pregnant women and families with children from birth to 18 years.
Medical
Consists of the offices of the Medical Officer of Health, Associate Medical Officers of Health, Associate Commissioner, Community Development Manager, Communications and the SHARE Unit (epidemiology and GIS).
