Energy Management
The mandate for this new area to the Corporate Services Department is to design and implement a corporate energy management strategy to facilitate cost savings and efficiencies relating to all types of energy used in the Region.
On the agenda in 2008 is to continue to identify opportunities across all divisions for energy efficiency; conservation demand management - load shifting & peak shaving and the use of renewable energy including solar, and geothermal.
Services Provided by Energy Management
- Develop Region's energy management strategy
- Collaborate with process owners/building managers to:
- Reduce costs and improve performance
- Promote the efficient use of energy
- Identify energy conservation opportunities
- Find economic applications for renewable energy
- Identify grant funding opportunities
- Provide life cycle costing for decision-making
- Energy Audits and Feasibility Studies
- Capital Projects - energy efficiency by design
- Procurement
- Communications
- Regulatory Compliance
- Support to local Municipalities on an ad hoc basis
